Course description

This course offers an introduction to the diversity of Thai culture and lifestyles, Thai local wisdom, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through enriching experiences with Thai heritage at the old capital sufficiency economy, environmental studies at Sakaerat Environment Research Centre, Thai herbs and traditional medicine at Hom Mali Rice Cultivation, and elephants and Kui Mahouts in Surin province. The main objective of the course is to develop a deep understanding of how SDGs can be achieved by the framework of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and Royal Projects initiated by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) such as the new theory of agricultural system, and biodiesel (alternative energy from palm oil crops). Moreover, students will gain understanding of multiculturalism in connection to the ASEAN integration through site visits, field trips, workshops and local home stays.
